Work in progress: Three Structures Touching 2018-2024
Threes Structures touching is a close collaboration between Maj Hasager and Carolyne and Bill Edwards of the Quinn Research Center, an archive of the small but influential Black community in the Santa Monica Bay area from the early 20th century forwards. The photographs, magazines, advertisements, letters, and ephemera the Edwardses have painstakingly preserved over decades catalogue the stories of a resilient community, and undergird Hasager's artistic production. Sounding Pico is an art project focussing on the Pico-neighbourhood in Santa Monica, CA in the USA – developed in collaboration between artist Maj Hasager (DK) and composer Ask Kæreby (DK) in collaboration with Santa Monica Youth Orchestra (SMYO) during winter 2018-19.
