Site-specific sound installation in Hökarängen, Stockholm

Press for sound

”Like a river without a bridge” is a sound installation based on quotations, statistics and observations. It investigates the relation between two parts in the suburb Hökarängen, the eastern part and the western part. The sound installation consists of a single loudspeaker placed in a tunnel under Hökarängen subway
station, making passers by hear words spoken by a authoritarian male voice (the voice of actor Kenneth Mildoff). He narrated a mix of direct and indirect postulations about economical and class aspects of the suburb. Some of
these sayings were quoted from individuals from the suburb, who recognized themselves in the narrative – other sayings were more poetic observations on architecture and the surroundings.
